Locations
Set up the stores, bins and other places stock is held, and give each a scannable code.

- A balance is only useful if it says where the stock is.
- What
- Locations form a tree: a store, the bins inside it, and the vans, stations and customers that hold stock too.
- How
- Open
/app/stock, choose Locations and use Add a location.
Add a location
- Step 1.
In
/app/stock, choose the Locations view, then Add a location. - Step 2.
Give it a Name and a Kind, and choose where it sits under Inside (or Top level).
- Step 3.
Add a Scannable code if the shelf will carry a label, then Save.
Kinds

Every workspace starts with one store, marked Default. Anything recorded without a location lands there.
Rename, archive and go below zero
- Rename changes the name, code, parent and the below zero setting.
- Archive stops new stock arriving and keeps the history in the ledger. Only an empty location can be archived, and never the default store.
- May go below zero suits a van between its load scan and its reconciliation. Every other location refuses a negative balance.
Creating, renaming and archiving a location needs the engineer role or above.
