In more detail

Stock runs locations, lines, an append only movement ledger and counts, with a single writer that every other product calls. Balances are derived from the ledger and never edited. It adds a location tree with scannable codes, transfers between locations, stocktakes that write their own variance adjustments, and reorder points watched by the Reorder view and the stock monitors.

Where it lives

It adds to Quotes and Orders when the product that brings those areas is on too.

Works with Design Engineer, Route, Source, Service Centre and Machinist. Nothing is a prerequisite: each pair only adds to the other.

Switching it on and off

Switch it on in Settings then Products, on any plan. It brings the Stock area with lines, locations, movements and reorder points, plus the Products, Schemas and Imports views of the Catalogue.

Switched off: Every balance stays correct and every movement stays recorded. Locations, counts and reorder points are not available until it is switched on again.

What a workspace without Stock still gets

The ledger is infrastructure, not the product. Every workspace has one default store, and every quantity any product changes is written as a movement whether Stock is on or not.

• The catalogue's stock figure and the products API read the same true balance.
• Each product keeps its own quantity surface: the design module's stock lines, the machine module's stock, goods in against a purchase order and the issue on delivery.
• Switching Stock on later reveals the history that was recorded all along. Switching it off loses nothing: the area stays readable, without its write controls, until it has no rows.
