Rank the process families that meet a corrosion target on a given substrate, with the ISO 10683 designation where one resolves.

The coating and treatment selector answers a subcontract coater's first question: which process family should this part go through, and what should the specification say? You give it the substrate, the environment and the corrosion target; it ranks the process families that meet it, states the route and lists the add-on services worth raising.

What it returns

  • The ranked process families, each with a sector-typical salt spray reach the coater confirms.
  • The specification-ready designation, where one resolves: a full ISO 10683 code for a zinc flake recommendation, built only from the published classes.
  • The process route, barrel, rack or spray, with the reason it lands there.
  • The add-on services to raise, and the pricing drivers captured for the quote.

What it deliberately does not do

It does not price anything and it does not match a catalogue. Coating is quoted bespoke per batch, driven by weight, surface area, the rack or barrel decision and the batch minimum, so the selector captures those drivers and stops. Matching a catalogue line by name would be theatre.

The salt spray classes are exactly the published set (360, 500, 720, 1000 and 1500 hours to red rust). Nothing outside that set is ever presented as a class, and no designation is minted beyond the top published class. Where a system's reach is a sector norm rather than a published class, it is labelled as an estimate to confirm.

Hydrogen embrittlement is treated as a rule, not a footnote: a high tensile part routed through an electrolytic process raises the bake requirement rather than leaving it to the reader.
