Presets, and one Services page

Turn on everything one trade needs in a single step, and see what needs doing in Services rather than where everything is.

27 August 2026. Setting Kabaido up used to be four separate decisions on four separate screens: which of twenty five product schemas, which of sixteen service definitions, which design modules and a wizard nobody had been told about. None of them is answerable on the day you sign up. There is one question now, and it is one you can answer: what do you sell, and what do you service.

Presets

A preset is everything Kabaido needs to know about one thing you sell or service, turned on in one go: the design module, the product schemas, the service definitions, the wizards and the extra customer fields that trade works with. There are thirty two of them in six families, under Products, then Presets.

  • Several can be on at once, and most businesses need several. Turning one on costs nothing and is not a plan gate.
  • Service definitions arrive switched off, because their figures are illustrative starting points rather than your rates.
  • Turning a preset off keeps everything you have filled in. Schemas with products in them stay, services are paused with their history rather than deleted and customer field values stay on the customer.
  • The product schema library in Catalogue now offers what your presets carry rather than every schema in the supply chain. Until your first preset is on it still shows everything, and nothing you already use is ever hidden.
  • Presets never change what the AI knows. Full Application Engineering Intelligence stays on for every organisation, all seven categories and all fifteen packs.
  • Documented in Presets overview.

Onboarding asks what you sell

Onboarding has a fourth screen. It asks which product groups you sell, from a plain list, and switches on the presets that match what you pick. Nothing is invented for you: no sample products, no example customers and no made up prices. Documented on Create your account.

Services is one page

The Services area was three tabs and a board, which told you where every item was and never once told you which one to pick up. It is one page now, led by what needs doing: every open item ranked, past its promised date first, then due within three days, then longest waiting, each row carrying the one action that moves it on. A status strip filters that list, the serialised item registry sits under it and the services you offer sit under that.

  • A service definition can declare a turnaround in working days, and an item takes its promised date back from it at the moment it is booked in.
  • Items can be registered straight from an order.
  • Serials, QR dockets, the event timeline, the lifetime count and the inspection and approval flow are unchanged.
  • Documented in The work list and inspection and Building a service.

The Custom area opens on your work

Products, then Custom, no longer shows a page of cards with a switch on each. It resolves straight into the workbench: the file you had open, else the newest one in your workspace, else a fresh file on the module that suits your business. Design modules arrive with the preset that carries them. Documented on the Design Engineer module page.
