Changing plans
Upgrade or downgrade with confidence, knowing your data is never deleted.
You change plan from the in-app picker on the Billing page. An upgrade is prorated; a downgrade is not, so the two behave differently and it is worth knowing which you are doing.
Upgrades
An upgrade takes effect immediately and is prorated: you pay the difference for the time remaining in the period. The higher user, catalogue and module limits and the larger usage allowance apply straight away.
Downgrades
A downgrade also takes effect immediately, and the part of the period you have already paid for is not refunded, so the best time to move down a plan is close to your renewal date. If your catalogue holds more products than the new plan cap allows, nothing is deleted.
When a downgrade would exceed the new catalogue cap, the catalogue becomes read-only above the cap and a banner explains it. Your products stay intact and editing returns when you free up room or move back up a plan.
The principle behind that
Nothing you have created is deleted because you moved to a cheaper plan. Not products, not configurators, not quotes, not designed products. A cap that has been exceeded turns the relevant area read-only and says so; it never quietly removes rows to make the numbers fit.
The same rule holds everywhere caps appear, which is why the docs describe them as enforcing softly. At a limit you are told what the limit is and offered the plan that clears it. On the Machinist module the rule goes one step further and never disables a connected machine screen mid-job, because a shop floor is the wrong place to meet a billing state.
Usage when you change plan
The usage allowance belongs to the plan, so moving up gives you the larger allowance straight away and moving down gives you the smaller one. Usage does not roll over between periods in either direction, so there is no balance to lose or carry when you switch.
Monthly and annual
Annual billing is available on every paid plan at 5 per cent off the annual total. Switching between monthly and annual is a plan change like any other and is handled on the same Billing page.
Cancelling
Cancelling is done from the Stripe customer portal, opened from the Billing page, which is also where payment methods and past invoices live. Once the subscription ends the organisation returns to the free plan rather than closing: your data stays where it is, reachable and exportable, under the free plan's caps. Deleting the organisation is a separate and deliberate action described in Data export and deletion.
