Tool grinding

Run the tool grinding machine module: the factory order, each grinder's wheel pack and the grind, section by section.

On this page
Why
A designed tool has to reach the grinder with its rod, its wheels and its process settled.
How
Install the Solid carbide tool making preset, set up a grinder in Setup and open Tool grinding from the Machinist switcher.

The four views

Shop, Orders, Grind and Setup. There is no Parts view: the tool is a design, and each order carries its own plan. The toolbar counts orders waiting to be ground and wheel and fluid lines at their reorder point.

The factory order

An order opens as a page you can print: the tool, the rod and how many blanks it gives, the grinder and why, the wheel set with the pack drawn and the plan laid over it, the fluid, the process in order with its minutes, the steps off the machine and the measurement plan. The minutes are the quote's own. Download the tool definition as JSON for your own grinding software.

Grinding

In Grind, pick the order. The checklist shows what is not ready with a one click fix: mount a wheel, top up the tank. Start the order, tick each section as it is ground, then complete it with the minutes it took and the first off readings. Completing books the rods out of stock and raises each wheel's tool count.

Setup

Machines adds a grinder, draws its wheel pack and lets you mount, take off, retire or dress a wheel and top up the tank. Wheels and Fluids list what the toolroom holds, with the quantities Stock counts in the store and on each machine.

What is not modelled

Kabaido does not solve the grind. It gives the wheel set and the process, and your own grinding software expands the order into paths. Wheel life, dressing intervals and removal rates are not published for diamond on carbide, so none is predicted.

Where the work comes from

A quoted endmill sent to the factory from Design Engineer, or an order that contains one. See rates, stock and the machine bridge.
