Vans and runs

Why

Your own vans cost money per kilometre and per hour, and a day of stops only works in a sensible order.

What

Vehicles at /app/route/vehicles holds the vans; Runs at /app/route/runs holds a day of stops for one vehicle.

How

The planner orders the stops by their windows and straight line distance, and closing the run records the odometer and shares the cost across what it carried.

Vehicles

Add vehicle records the registration, name, kind, capacity in kilograms and cubic metres, Cost per kilometre, Cost per hour, MOT due and Service due. Under Off the road, Add a date range with a reason; on those days the list shows Off the road on this date. An MOT or service coming up is flagged Due within thirty days.

Plan a run

   Step 1.

   Open /app/route/runs and pick the run from the week strip.

   Choose Add stop for a site you are planning by hand. A new stop goes last.

   Choose Sequence: stops with a window go first in window order, then the nearest next, from the depot. Dragging a stop or Lock the order keeps your own order; Unlock the order to sequence again.

   Step 4.

   A stop with no coordinates sorts last and asks you to Pin this address on the map. Nothing is guessed from the address.

   Step 5.

   Open in Google Maps hands the pinned stops to the satnav; Open in Waze goes to the next pending stop, as Waze takes one destination at a time. Print manifest prints the stops in order with their packages.

Distances are planned, straight line. Actual kilometres come from the odometer when the run closes.

Close a run

Close run asks for the odometer reading and the minutes on the road, and is refused while a stop is still pending: defer each one with a reason first. It warns of packages still on the van, to rebook as failed or adjust with a reason. The cost is shared across the deliveries by packages, weight, stops or value, and stays a planned cost when no reading was taken before the van left.
