Machinist runs the floor and tells you what the job cost.
It can give the operator a screen built for that machine, with machine modules for plasma profiling, wire EDM and CNC milling, then schedule the jobs, machines and operators above them, track progress piece by piece and collect the time and material each job consumed.
Give your customers a lead time based on real capacity, and the status of their own production order without them having to ask.
Work arriving from a quote becomes a job, the job carries its trace code through every station, and the cost comes back against the order.

In more detail
Machinist puts a screen built for the machine at the machine, through a machine module for plasma profiling, wire EDM or CNC milling, and runs a manufacturing execution system over them: jobs, machines, operators, a schedule and real costs. There is one job model, one station sign in, one cost model and one trace code across every machine module. Material a run consumes is written to the stock ledger, and the Stock area shows it when Stock is on. With Commerce on, a customer sees the status of their own production order and nothing else.

It adds to Stock when the product that brings that area is on too.
Works with Stock. Nothing is a prerequisite: each pair only adds to the other.
Switching it on and off
Switch it on in Settings then Products, on any plan. It brings the Machinist workbench with your machine modules, the Production view on Orders, machines, operators, the schedule and costs.
Switched off: Jobs, parts and machine setups stay readable. Nothing new can be nested, queued or run until it is switched on again.
