Stations and scanning

Why

Work recorded later from memory is work recorded wrongly.

What

A station is a bench, a machine, a dock or a van with its own device key and one screen.

How

Add it in Settings then Organisation, sign the device in at /station and scan every handover.

Add a station

   Open /app/settings/organisation?tab=stations and choose Add station.

   Give it a Name, an Area, a Kind, its Station group and its Centre, then Add.

   Copy the device key. It is shown once and never again.

Rotate key signs the old screen out on its next scan. Deactivate ends the station and keeps its trail.

Sign a device in

On the device, open /station, enter the Device key and Sign in. A station signs in, not a person, and it reaches its own screen and nothing else.

A member of operator rank or above can open /app/scan in their own session, and a member who holds a station opens it from the rail.

Scanning

Scan with a wedge scanner, choose Use the camera or type the code. With no signal, scans are held on the screen and sent in order when it returns.

A scan point may record Registered, Received, Booked in, Marked, Station in, Station out, Packed, Counted, Moved and Step. A code the workspace does not know offers Register this code or Add as an alias of the next code, so a customer's own number resolves to your item.

The servicing station screen

The screen works through the steps written for each item at that bench: Scan the item shows the work required, the limits and the standard time, Done records the step and Hand back returns the item to inspection with a note. The station never sees a price.

Items do not carry written steps today, so the drawer's Steps tab reads No workflow has been written for this item yet and this screen has nothing waiting. Record the work by scan at a scan point and with the item's own actions at /app/servicing.

Station groups

A station group is a class of work, not a place. Each station belongs to one, and a centre skips the groups it does not run.
