Margin reporting
Read margin by line, by service, by job, by customer and by month, from the one definition the whole platform uses.
Updated 23 September 2026
- Why
- Margin is where a price meets the cost of doing the work.
- What
- Margin is always gross margin on the sell price,
(price - cost) / price, never markup. - How
- Read it on the quote line, in the Servicing reports and on Machinist costs.
Where to read it
| Where | What it shows |
|---|---|
| A quote line | The line's margin after its discount, as a whole percentage, under the amount. |
/app/servicing?view=costing, Cost and margin | Standard against actual cost, price, margin and margin per cent. |
/app/machinist/costs | Each job's machine, labour and material cost, standard against actual, and its margin. |
Run the servicing report
- Step 1.
Open the Costing view of Servicing and choose Cost and margin.
- Step 2.
Pick Group by: Step, Station group, Service, Family, Centre, Customer or Month, and the From and To dates.
- Step 3.
Choose Run, then Export CSV to take the rows away.
Machinist costs
Switch between By job, By machine, By operator and By month. A job's margin needs the order line it was raised from; material is what the run consumed at the stock line's moving average.
A margin with no cost behind it is left empty rather than shown as 100%. Money is held in integer minor units and rounded half up only at display.
