Coverage and evidence

Read a profile the way it was built: measured coverage, cited evidence and honest gaps.

Coverage is measured, not asserted. Every region carries the ONS denominator for its manufacturing base, and the coverage header shows companies recorded against it. Roughly six in ten of a county's manufacturers have 0 to 4 staff and many of the smallest leave no usable web footprint, so honest stubs are expected and labelled.

Profile tiers

  • Full: a verified website plus at least two corroborating sources.
  • Standard: a website or a directory profile.
  • Stub: register and premises data only, with nothing invented about operations.

Evidence carrying values

Every profiled attribute carries its basis and sources. Verified means a source states it; inferred means derived with the reasoning written down. Tap or click any value to see the citations. Missing means null plus an entry in the open gaps, never a guess.

Commercial signals come from the public registers: accounts filed and next due, overdue flags, charges, Gazette notices and company age. CCJ data is not free to search, so it is stated as unavailable rather than implied clean.
