Traceability
Read a Kabaido code, follow its trail and choose what a public scan of your label shows.

- Why
- When a customer asks where their item is, the answer should take one scan.
- What
- One Kabaido code on any item, batch, package or job, scanned and followed through the platform and the workshop.
- How
- Each scan writes an event with its station and the minutes since the last scan onto the code's trail.

Reading a code
A code reads ABC-P26-00148: your workspace's serial prefix, a type letter, the two digit year and a sequence. An item keeps the serial it was registered with, such as ABC-26-00147: it carries no letter and is read as an item.

Every label carries the code twice: a QR that opens /t/<code> and a Code 128 line for a scanner. A customer's asset number or a courier's tracking number is kept as an alias, so either finds the same trail.
What a public scan shows
Anyone who scans a label without signing in lands on /t/<code>, rate limited per address. Set how much it says in Settings then Customer facing, under What a public scan shows:

A public scan never shows a customer, a price or who did the work. A signed in member or customer is sent to the full record instead.
