Wizard overview
Understand what the Wizard is, where it lives and what it costs to run.
Wizard is a platform area of deterministic product selectors. A wizard preset is an interactive engineering form: it takes what you know (material, workpiece shape and dimensions, machine, priorities), computes the correct product specification from published engineering data and then matches and ranks your own catalogue against that specification.
Three engines are live: the bandsaw blade wizard, the PCD saw blade selector and the coating and treatment selector. They share one shape and differ only in the charts they read.
Wizards run in the platform for every account. They also run on your own website when that website is a Kabaido Commerce site, where the Kabaido team builds them into your pages against the same catalogue.
There is no AI anywhere in the Wizard and runs never draw on your usage. The intelligence is engineering logic compiled from published manufacturer guidance, and the same inputs always produce the same answer.
Where it lives
Wizard sits under Products in the platform, beside Catalog, Design and Service. Opening it goes straight into the wizard you last ran, as one workbench: the stepped form on the left, a live scene with gauges in the middle and your results on the right, on screen the whole time. Switch between wizards from the name at the top left. With nothing switched on, the area says which preset carries a wizard and links you to it.
Every step is skippable with a stated default. Missing input produces a question, never a guess, and a combination outside the published charts is reported honestly rather than extrapolated.
From a chat answer
Where an enquiry is really a selection question, the answer offers the wizard that settles it and runs it inside the response, with what the request already said filled in. You finish the form there and the specification lands beside the rest of the answer, without leaving the request.
Results
Results render as a specification sheet where every line carries a why popover naming the published chart that produced it, followed by your catalogue ranked against the specification with a per factor score breakdown. An empty catalogue returns an honest empty state, never fabricated products.
Runs and caps
- Any Kabaido account can run wizard presets in the platform.
- The free plan includes 10 runs a calendar month; the runner shows the remaining count.
- Paid plans are uncapped.
- Runs never draw on your usage, on any plan.
Usage
The Wizard page carries a usage view for the last 30 days: how many runs there were, what share of them found at least one match in your catalogue, and where the runs came from. Runs are split between the platform and your Commerce website, so a low match rate on your site can be told apart from a low match rate at the desk.
Why deterministic and not AI
Selecting a blade, a wheel or a tool from an application is not a language problem. It is a lookup against charts a manufacturer published, plus arithmetic. The charts already exist, they are already correct, and they already carry the authority of the company that tested them.
Putting a model in front of that would trade a right answer for a plausible one, and it would make every recommendation unciteable. A deterministic engine gives the same answer to the same question every time, names the chart that produced each line, and refuses rather than extrapolates when a combination falls outside what was published. That is the standard an applications engineer is held to.
What it does with your catalogue
The specification is the neutral part: it is what the job needs, regardless of who is selling. The second half of the answer is your own products ranked against that specification, factor by factor, so the recommendation is a thing you can actually supply rather than a generic conclusion the customer takes elsewhere.
With no catalogue loaded the specification still computes and the ranking is honestly empty. Nothing is invented to fill the space.
Putting it on your own website
A wizard can also run on your own website, on the same catalogue, as part of a Kabaido Commerce website. It is built into your pages and connected by the Kabaido team during the website build: there is nothing to buy separately and nothing to set up in your settings. Runs from your site are counted exactly like runs in the platform, against the same monthly allowance, and they draw no usage either.
