Commerce

Know what Commerce is, where it lives in the platform and what it costs.

Commerce is a fully managed website, online store and trade portal for industrial sellers: domain-specific digitalisation of industrial sales, not web development. Kabaido builds and runs it for you.

Why it is a managed service and not a website builder

An industrial catalogue does not behave like a retail one. A buyer arrives knowing a standard, a material and a duty, not a product name. The pages that earn traffic are the ones written about a material, an industry or an application rather than about a range. Trade customers expect their own prices and their own terms, not a public list price. Stock and lead times have to reflect what the ERP says today. Almost none of that is what a general web agency builds, and all of it is what the rest of Kabaido already models.

So Commerce is scoped with you and run for you, over the same catalogue, customers and pricing rules the platform already holds. There is no second product database to keep in step, because there is no second product database.

What a build includes

  • SEO and AI-search optimisation with material, industry and application pages.
  • Product finders and an online store over your catalogue.
  • Special pricing and trade accounts for your regular customers.
  • Google Shopping and ERP-managed orders.

How a build starts

  1. Open Commerce in the main navigation and book a consultation, or send a message from the same page.
  2. We scope the site with you: what you sell, who buys it, which of your customers need trade accounts and what your catalogue looks like today.
  3. The build is quoted as a one-time fee against that scope.
  4. The site goes live and is hosted and managed monthly. Changes go through us rather than through a page editor you have to learn.

There is no self-serve build, and that is a deliberate choice rather than a missing feature. A managed site that is actually maintained beats a builder nobody in a workshop has time to open.

Running your site from the platform

Once your site is connected, Commerce becomes a full screen workbench over it. Overview shows live activity as it happens: visitors, orders, enquiries and selector runs, with the last two weeks charted. Content tracks every text and image slot on the site, including which photography is in place and which we are still waiting on. Enquiries sent on the site land in their own queue with reply and close built in. Blog shows what is published and what is planned, and Checklists carry the real launch and growth steps of your project, ticked off as they land.

Nothing lives twice. Products on the site are your catalogue records, so a price or spec change here changes the site. People who register on the site appear in Customers. Orders placed on the site are platform orders with the same numbering, documents and notifications as any other. You can also invite existing customers to the site by email, one click per customer.

What it costs

A project we quote and build, typically £6,500 to £12,500 depending on complexity, billed as two invoices. Where in that band it lands genuinely depends on your range and the scope, so we quote it after the consultation. There is no separate hosting line afterwards: once it is live the site runs on your ordinary Kabaido plan, and a Commerce site barely touches the AI, so Pro is enough.
