Presets overview
Turn on everything Kabaido needs to know about one thing you sell or service, in one go.
A preset is everything Kabaido needs to know about one thing you sell or service, turned on in one go: the design module, the machine interface, the product schemas, the service definitions, the wizards and the extra customer fields that trade works with. Open Products, then Presets.
The question a preset answers is the only one you can actually answer on the day you sign up: what do you sell, and what do you service. Everything ready made in the platform used to be offered from its own screen in its own vocabulary, so setting up meant twenty five product schemas in one library, sixteen service definitions behind a second dialog and a design module switch on a third page, none of them labelled for your business.
What turning one on does
- Product schemas: the typed field sets that describe your range, created as editable copies in your organisation so you can change them freely.
- Service definitions: the priced calculations for work you do on a customer's own item. They arrive switched off, for the reason below.
- Design modules: the configurators the Custom area opens, for trades that quote a made to order product rather than a part number.
- Machine interfaces: the Machinist module for the process that trade runs. Plate profiling brings Arcline, the CNC plasma interface. Nothing at the machine is created and no machine screen is used up: the module is simply switched on.
- Wizards: the deterministic selectors that compute a specification from published engineering data and match it against what you hold.
- Customer fields: the extra fields that trade needs on a customer record, a collection day or a site address for example. They are ordinary fields on the customer once they exist.
Several presets can be on at once and most businesses need several. A tool distributor that also regrinds turns on Cutting tools and Tool regrind and recoat and gets one workspace that does both. Turning the same preset on twice does nothing twice: anything already there is left exactly as it is and reported as already present, so a re-run finishes an interrupted job rather than duplicating it.
It costs nothing and it is not a plan gate
Presets carry no price and no upgrade. Turning one on is free on every plan, the free plan included, and turning one off is free too. The only limit that can hold anything back is one you already have: the number of services your plan allows. A preset carrying three service definitions when your plan allows one installs what it can and names the one it could not add and why, rather than failing halfway and leaving a workspace nobody can explain.

Services arrive switched off
Every service definition a preset installs is inactive when it lands. The figures in a shipped definition are illustrative starting points, drawn from what work of that kind usually involves rather than from your rates, and several of them arriving at once must not start quoting a number nobody has looked at. Open each one, put your own rates in, run its tests and switch it on. See Building a service.
Turning one off keeps everything you have filled in
Removing a preset is not an undo of your work. It takes back the offer, not the record, and it says what it did to each thing it once created.
- A schema with products filed under it is kept, and the report says how many products are described by it. An untouched one is archived, which preserves the data behind it rather than deleting it.
- A service is never deleted. It is paused, with its history and every item it has processed, so work you have actually done stays auditable. Delete it yourself from Services if you genuinely do not want it.
- A customer field is archived and the values already filled in stay on the customer records. Switch the preset back on and they are visible again.
- A design module you have design files in stays switched on, because taking it away would leave saved work with nothing to open it.
- Anything another preset you still have on also carries is left exactly where it is.
What the schema library offers
The product schema library in Catalogue offers what your presets carry rather than every schema in the supply chain, so a balustrade fabricator is not asked to choose between twenty five schemas, twenty three of which describe things it has never sold. Until your first preset is on, the library shows everything, which is what an organisation set up before presets existed keeps. Nothing you have already created is ever hidden: this narrows what is offered, never what exists. See Schemas and fields.
Presets never change what the AI knows
This is worth saying plainly, because a switch like this looks as though it ought to. Full Application Engineering Intelligence is on for every organisation: all seven categories and all fifteen knowledge packs are available to every request you send, whichever presets you have on and whether you have any on at all. There is no per organisation domain selection anywhere in Kabaido. Relevance is decided per request, by what you actually sent. Service centres
Work you do on a customer's own item and send back to them. Most of the shipped service definitions sit here, though Machines, spares and maintenance and Coatings and surface treatment carry one each of their own. Picking yours
Every preset on the page says who it suits in three or four lines and, honestly, what it does not cover, because the useful half of that answer is usually the second one. Saw blades sells new blades; it does not sharpen the ones that come back, which is Saw sharpening and retipping. The two are separate on purpose and a great many businesses want both.
Turning a preset on shows you exactly what it created, item by item, including anything it skipped and why. Nothing happens quietly.
Onboarding asks which of these you sell on its last screen and turns on what you pick. Nothing is invented for you: no sample products, no example customers and no made up prices. You can change the set whenever you like from Products, then Presets.
