Usage and what consumes it
Understand what draws on your monthly usage and what is free.
Every plan includes an amount of usage a month. Usage meters the automated reading and matching that Kabaido does for you, and nothing else. There is no per-unit price to work out and no per-action price list to check before you send something.
What draws on usage
The work the AI does: reading an enquiry, extracting the specification, matching it against your catalogue, configuring a custom product, drafting a reply from your inbox, a Machinist AI action, and a work action posted back through an AI connector.
Heavier work draws more of it. A pasted email of three catalogue lines is the lightest thing you can send; a scanned multi-page drawing that has to be read as an image, or a custom product configured against uploaded geometry, is the heaviest. A request that resolves twenty lines uses roughly twenty times what a one-line request uses.
Why the line is the unit behind the scenes
A request can be one line or two hundred. Charging per request would make the two cost the same, which is wrong in both directions: it overcharges the person forwarding a single enquiry and undercharges the one dropping in a schedule. Charging per page would price a scan differently from the same content pasted as text, which is a distinction about somebody's scanner rather than about the work done.
So a resolved line is the unit of work the platform accounts in. You never have to think in it: the Billing page tells you how much of the month is left, not how many units you have spent.
Charged once
A line is accounted when it is first resolved. Reopening the request, reading it again, changing a quantity, answering a clarification and turning the result into a quote all cost nothing further. You are not metered for looking at what you already paid to have read.
What is free
Manual use of the platform costs nothing. Browsing the catalogue, writing a quote by hand, configuring a design yourself, running a wizard and running a machine screen never touch your usage. Usage meters only the automated reading and matching.
That split is deliberate and it is worth relying on. If you would rather do something yourself than draw on your usage for it, you can always do it yourself, and the manual path is the full product rather than a stripped-down fallback.
Your monthly allowance
The allowance resets at the start of every billing period and does not roll over, so an unused month does not carry into the next one.
There is no overage. When the allowance runs out the AI pauses politely and the rest of the platform stays fully usable by hand until the reset, or until you upgrade. You will never receive an invoice for usage you did not agree to.
