The work it does

Subcontract work is won on a fast quote from the customer's drawing and kept on knowing what each job cost.

A request read into a structured table: 1 line, each with its quantity, and 2 attributes, each cited to the customer's own words.

  1. A bracket from a STEP model

    1 off bespoke machined bracket from our STEP model, 6082 aluminium, five axis, finish Ra 1.6

    Material, process and finish cited and the drawing asked for; nothing prices it from the model.

  2. Vices and soft jaw blanks

    2 off 125mm machine vice, 200mm opening; 6 off aluminium soft jaw blanks, 125mm wide, to suit the above

    Vices matched by width and opening; the jaw blanks never get a vice type.

  3. A micrometer for the tolerance

    1 off 0-25mm external micrometer. We are holding plus or minus 0.02mm on turned shafts

    The 10:1 gauge rule sets a 0.001mm resolution from the stated tolerance, marked as an assumption.
