Sawing

Saw blades matched, configured and quoted

Circular saw blades and band saw blades have their own vocabulary of tooth form, pitch and tip material. Kabaido reads a request, finds the right blade in your catalogue and prices it, with every value cited to its source.

The catalogue

Search blades the way a request describes them

Circular and band saw blades sit in one catalogue, each typed by the attributes that decide the cut.

Tooth form is a select: TCG, ATB and triple chip each suit a different material, and a request that names one resolves to the right blades rather than a keyword match. Tooth count and pitch read as numbers, so a 96 tooth circular blade and a 6 to 10 TPI band blade both land where they belong.

Kerf, bore and blade width are dimensions in millimetres, with the units carried through from the request. Tip material is its own field, so carbide tipped, cermet tipped and bimetal blades are told apart, and a customer who asks for a cermet cold saw blade for steel is not offered an aluminium blade.

The fields come from the circular and band saw blade schemas in your Catalog, so faceted search and request matching share one vocabulary of attributes.

The configurator

A tipped special, priced per tooth

When the blade is made to order rather than stocked, the configurator builds it from the same schema, prices the body and the tooth geometry from your rules and draws the blade alongside.

A PCD blade is configured by blade diameter, bore, body thickness, kerf, tooth count, hook angle and any locating holes. From the diameter and the count the configurator derives the tooth pitch, then prices the body and the brazed tips per tooth, so the count drives the cost directly. The 250 mm sixty tooth blade here prices at the figure beside it on a ten day lead, and a blade past a hundred teeth moves to a longer lead automatically.

The rules hold the blade safe to make. A bore past forty per cent of the blade diameter is blocked, a kerf at or under the body is blocked because the tips have to stand proud of the plate, and a tooth pitch under 6 mm warns so the gullet clearance for the PCD tips is checked. The front elevation shows the toothed ring and the bore; the tooth detail shows the brazed tip with its hook and clearance.

It is the right path for a cold saw blade for a new section, a panel sizing blade or a grooving blade to a special kerf, where no stock blade fits. The rules behind it live in Configure.

The service journey

From a blade registered to a blade returned

Sharpening and retipping run as a tracked service, each blade carried through the lifecycle from registered to returned.

A blade comes in and is registered against a serial, so its whole history travels with it. Inspection records the state of the teeth and tips before any work begins. Sharpening or retipping is priced from the template you control, with lifetime counts kept on the record so a blade nearing the end of its serviceable life is easy to spot.

When the work is done the blade is returned, and the next time it arrives the same serial picks the record back up. Sharpening and retipping price from the same engine as quotes and configured specials, so one blade you sell new, configure as a special and service over its life shares a single vocabulary. The full lifecycle, holds and inspection gates live on the Servicing page.
